The series draws heavy inspiration from the life and death of Ragnar Lothbrok, a notable Viking who is a widely renowned hero of Norse mythology. In the series, Ragnar Lothbrok is played by Travis Fimmel. However, in the fourth season, the main character Lothbrok was killed off.
